DESIGN STYLE: ARE YOU WELL LIT?
Indoor lanterns are all the rage as we search for a special fixture for that unique place in our homes. Don't go for the norm, try a different style light for your dining area and wait for the rave reviews from your family and friends. This fixture is courtesy of Currey & Co., a maker of handmade lighting fixtures for the trade.
Lantern: Bellamy
Finish: Bark Brown with Seeded Glass
Size: 15" square x 24" high
DESIGN TREND: SHEER DELIGHT
IN (spirations) ! The newest trend shown here by Fabricut Fabrics is to have double sheers. The front fabric is a sheer with images of trees and the back fabric is a sheer with images of leaves. This bathes the window in softness and adds a bit of mystery. Touche!
Front fabric: Arziki in Bronze
Back fabric: Opalite in Ivory
DESIGN TREND: GO TO THE HEAD OF THE BED
Upholstered headboards are a great design trend that makes redecorating a bedroom affordable. Usually an upholstered headboard is a less expensive alternative than a solid wood bed and also adds texture and color. Their are vast choices of fabrics and trim that can be used to enhance the headboard while also adding warmth to the overall feel of the room. Pictured are two examples of styles that can be used and your upholsterer should be able to show you other ones available. Headboards courtesy of Robert Allen Design.

DESIGNING YOUR WINDOWS
One of the most wonderful companies for drapery rods and accessories is Resin Solutions. All of the products are custom made with over 60 color choices. They will also match your own wall or trim color to the selected items. The rods are all wood and the finials are resin. Your order will arrive in 4 to 6 weeks but they also have a quick ship program on certain styles. But one of the best things about this company is all of their products are handmade in the USA. The pricing is very competitive with other companies and is represented by Dogwood Fabrics. The photo is just a small sampling of the products available. Contact Dogwood Fabrics for the new catalog. DESIGN TREND: FABRIC REPORT
This beautiful chair is covered in a brand new fabric from Vervain. The upholstery is a scrumptious velvet from Italy with a raised pattern. Eventhough the fabric is luxurious, it still passed the rub test of 36,000 double rubs. That's durable! The pattern is called Longevity and is exclusive to Vervain. The color shown is Truffle but the fabric comes in three more colors: Coconut, Honeysuckle and Nile. Check with your Vervain or Fabricut showroom. (To the Trade)

DESIGN IDEA: CREATING A FOCAL POINT
Black is back! Beautiful black furniture and built-ins are showing up in all the new homes. Decorating with a dark piece of furniture can sometimes be quite a dilemma. Many accessories are also dark and therefore will only work with lighter furniture. See the example of the decorated bookcase using mainly gold and red accessories. These colors coincide with the other furniture and accessories in this room and helps to show the beautiful lines of this built-in bookcase. Black furniture does not work for everyone, but can be a fantastic focal point when used with the right colors.

DESIGN IDEA: ROOM WITH A VIEW!
Outdoor living is all the rage as homeowners strive to update their outdoor spaces into living rooms with a view. Patios and covered porches are here to stay as we bring our indoor decorating ideas to the outside. Our example shown is a covered porch of a new home with a beautiful stone fireplace. The room is completed with a cedar ceiling and cedar siding walls. But the best part of all is the open air view to the landscape beyond.
