Can you have glamour in a modern room? Yes, you can! I just finished reading Metropolitan Home's book, "Glamour, Making It Modern", by Michael Lassell. The colorful photographs depict modern styled rooms with added glamour that doesn't necessarily mean lots of glitz. Glamour in these rooms means they have a wow factor that will be noticed when you visit. This is a beautiful book full of photos from designers that know how to add glamour to a room. Take a look at this wonderful book, especially if you are a modern fan! You can find it in the column on the left or check with your local library. See a few of our favorite dining rooms below shown in this wonderful book.
Designer Barbara Westbrook created modern glamour in this new Atlanta home. The high sheen on the Venetian plaster walls is accompanied by sisal carpeting, modern art and a formal custom table. The silk damask dining chairs are enhanced by the modern chandelier from Donghia and a metal chinoiserie chair not in the photo.
This room was designed by Shamir Shah in the Hamptons and features a custom dining room chandelier by New York sculptor, Susan Etkin. The chandelier is made of colored glass including mercury glass for a spectacular glamorous feel that coordinates with the rug colors.
This townhouse was designed by Nestor Santa-Cruz from Washington D.C. He prefers to design rooms in black, gold and white or in combinations of the same. The table is designed of copper and walnut with an overscaled chandelier in bronze by designer Herve Van der Straeten.
