Revamping for the New Year

The new year can mean a new look for your home, which can lead to new furniture, but before you start heading to Pottery Barn consider the option of reupholstering. You can often find great second hand furniture from your grandmother's home, the local distribution center or Craigslist. Better yet, you may already have a solid piece of furniture that just needs a little face lift with fun fabric.

Warning: do not let looks deceive you! Older furniture has good bones, meaning its been hand crafted and built to last, more solid than the mass produced furniture you can find today. My design advice is to look for furniture that has character in the frame, such as a carved chair leg or a curved back.

Reupholstered furniture is a great way to reflect your personality and achieve a one of kind look for your home!
