PRESS RELEASE: Anna Dibble at Edgewater Gallery in Middlebury

Landgrove painter Anna Dibble will will be exhibiting new work in a solo show at the Edgewater Gallery in Middlebury from July 1st through July 31st, 2011. The opening reception is on Friday, July 8 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The work on exhibit is part of Dibble’s current series of oil paintings with text, Animal Jabberwocky. The series is an edgy social commentary using animal behavior as metaphor for everyday human angst and dilemma: Macklin and Tink – two canines - share a glass of wine as they compare notes on the brevity of life and the joys of rolling in horse manure, a white dog named Sparky flirts with a Hooded Merganser, to no avail, a disastrous mixed species Thanksgiving meal includes the wrong Django album and a live turkey making a mad dash across the table…..

Part of this series is also currently on exhibit at the Washington Art Association in Washington Depot, Connecticut through June 12th.

Dibble is currently completing a series of commissioned paintings for Beecher’s Handmade Cheese – a Seattle, WA cheese manufacturer and food store that is opening a new cheesemaking kitchen, store and café in Manhattan’s Flatiron District on June 24th, 2011. At 900 Broadway, in a recently restored Stanford White building, cheesemakers will craft a new line of about 20 cheeses, using rBST and additive free milk from local farms, in a glassed-in viewing area on the street level floor. Downstairs in ‘The Cellar’, Dibble’s paintings will be showcased in a restaurant/wine bar near the cheese cave where some of the cheeses will age.

For over 35 years Dibble has shown her paintings and sculpture in solo and group shows throughout the Northeast. Her recent paintings reflect her work in animation and humor, an absurdly strong interest in food and the other animals, and her prejudiced opinions of our nonsensical human condition.
