Gallery in-the-Field, Brandon, VT, a gallery of contemporary art, is pleased to announce the second of three exhibitions in its 2011 Encore Season: The Power of Place: Landscapes and Mindscapes from Vermont, with an opening reception on Friday, July 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. and an artists’ panel discussion on the exhibition’s theme at 6 p.m. Curated by Danby-based artist and writer Linda Durkee, the exhibition will feature works by distinguished Vermont artists Judith Reilly, Phoebe Snow, Dick Weis, and Ms. Durkee. The reception is free and open to the public.
Ms. Durkee, who chose the participants based on their diverse and fascinating perspectives on the exhibition theme, commented recently, “Dynamic exploration of The Power of Place is the hallmark of this engaging exhibition, flowing from individual experience and varied use of color and style. It will resonate with all who turn to the exterior and interior landscape for reflection and inspiration.”
The Power of Place continues through Sept. 1. On Saturday, July 16, at 8 p.m, piano soloist Tanya Gabrielian will perform a recital entitled Musicscape, featuring a classical repertoire chosen by Ms. Gabrielian based on theme reflected in the gallery exhibition.
The current exhibition, ending June 30, is the installation – Centripetal Photo Project -- by artist Bill Ramage. The third exhibition, from Sept. 8 to Nov. 4, is the installation -- The Memory Chamber by artist, architect, and teacher Robert Black.
Gallery in-the-Field is located at 685 Arnold District Rd., just off Rt. 7 in Brandon. Hours are 12 to 5 p.m., Friday through Sunday, and by appointment.
For further information, contact Fran Bull, gallery owner and artist, at 802-247-0125.
