Spruce up for Holiday Entertaining!

Can't believe it is already that time of year. If you've been thinking that your home could use a holiday makeover ... why not think of upgrading a favorite piece or adding less expensive dimensions to your design? Revamping something already in your home ... such as a fresh coat of paint or new textiles on a chair ... incorporating some unique pillows with your couch ... adding some vintage glassware ... Upgrading what you already have is a great reutilisation concept and something that Mignonne Décor can help with.

Let Johnelle's vision add some sparkle and avoid those big box stores!

creative reuse ...

We adore vintage glassware at Mignonne ... we are constantly "on the hunt" for interesting pieces, both in California and in France.

Vintage glassware definitely adds character and pizzazz to your table settings and can also be repurposed in interesting ways to bring charm to your décor.

Glasses can make lovely vases ... or when paired together you can create unusual centerpieces when entertaining. Take these vintage brandy snifters, for example. One would make a pretty vase ... line the four down the center of a rectangular table and float one beautiful flower (poppy, small rose, magnolia) in each to make a statement.

Let your imagination be your guide and add some character to your tabletop. Its fun finding new ways to express yourself! and at Mignonne, we have the inspiration ...

Sweet. Dainty. Cute. "Mignonne"

Mignonne personifies the elements of a dreamy Valentine's day ... sweetness and light ... a little Berkeley corner to while away some time browsing our unique finds ... sampling yummy body products fresh in store from captain blankenship ... lovely vintage glassware ... special little treasures direct from France ... reimagining a favorite nook in your home with Johnelle's special touches ... refreshing your pad for Spring with a one-of-a-kind furniture item hand restored to your specifications...admire our newly refashioned display windows, freshly finished by Rebekah Carey McNall (and the last of her internship) ...

All this and more awaits ... wishing you a very "Mignonne" Valentine's Day

this is what we do!

We're sharing another example of repurposed fabulousness, courtesy of Mignonne!

We had this piece in our store for awhile, we found it during one of our treasure hunts. Originally, it was a flat cream color. We think it was originally for a laundry room. We used it as a display item for linens and cleaning products.

One of our customers was looking for a unique bar. We consulted on color and transformed this cabinet into a one-of-a-kind bar and conversation piece.

In addition to sanding, painting and waxing, we refurbished the metal interior. That great vintage glassware on display in the bar is also courtesy of Mignonne! Some vintage, some French ... all lovely!

Thinking of changing your tabletop for fall?

Mignonne has everything you need to update your look. From a beautifully redone dining set in matte black with 4 matching chairs with toile seats, to interesting combinations for your table top.

We are all about incorporating vintage and fresh new designs at Mignonne, not only for the beauty of the mélange, but because it is gentler to Mother Earth!

Take a look at this inspired combination of old and new in an interesting mix of colors (soft washed blue, chocolate browns and warm gold tones). All colors you'll see as you stroll the blocks of Old Oakland these days and observe the turning season.

Shown in these photos are large, square blown glass chargers in tones of soft blue, generously sized plates with a simple bird graphic in brown, topped with vintage smaller plate (salad, dessert?) in warm gold with a geometric brown design.

All of these pieces are extremely versatile and could be utilized as platters, serving pieces, or dinnerware.

The table setting is displayed on pale brown linen placemats bordered in soft blue, and a bold, floral design cloth napkin repeating all of the same color scheme.

We've mixed it up further with some gorgeous vintage amber glassware. You can click on the photo for a closer view.

There's lots more where this came from at your favorite place for French-inspired décor, Mignonne.

Introducing ... Friday's Fabulous French Find!

Hi folks!  I have now arrived in France and while I am very busily trying to get established, I'm never too busy to have my eye out for Mignonne finds.

So, even though I haven't been actively roaming and buying yet (after all, it hasn't even been a week!) ... I have already found a few treasures.

Johnelle and I thought it would be fun to start the week with a weekly Mignonne peek and end the week with a weekly French find!

The French finds should arrive in the store about 2 weeks after being pictured on our blog. You can always call the store directly if you see an item you'd like to reserve for purchase.

This week's find is a set of our trademark vintage glassware (click picture for a close-up view). Check out this lovely carafe with green and gold design, accompanied by 8 matching digestifs in green, blue, yellow and red, two of each color. There are no chips in the glass. As expected of glassware of this age, you will find some minor wearing in the striping and colors ... which only contributes to the charm of the set.

See you next week ... or perhaps I should say "à la prochaine!"
