Inspiration: The Backyard Urban Cottage

Every summer I'm inspired by outdoor spaces and backyard cottages.  I've been collecting images of them for a bit now (see here and here) and hopefully one day will be able to create a space outdoors for the summer ourselves.  In the meantime I continue to collect inspiration.  This time from the latest issue of Covet Magazine and the backyard urban cottage of publisher Vicki and daughters Lily and Piper.  By clearing out the clutter, Vickit turned her garage into a summer time space they call the Beach House that comes complete with a loft for sleepovers. Click here to see. (Photo by Tracy Shumate).

His & Hers Sheds!

Some of you may remember seeing Artemis Russel's adorable sewing and weaving shed a while back (it floated around the internet and even made an appearance here at one point); well now her husband Nao has his own shed which he's using as a leather workshop and which is equally charming.  Check out more pics here (I love how she can see him from her shed).  You may also remember their beautiful handmade wedding I posted about here last August - definitely worth a visit if you have time.  (Thanks for the heads up Deborah)!

Patio Wall Ornaments

Loving these wall ornaments I happened upon today over at Flora Grubb. Bright, cheery and colourful, each shell has a wall screw built into the back of it so it can be secured to a wooden wall or drywall by hand. The result is a perfect little decorative cup that brightens any space (inside or out) while sitting flush with the wall. Comes in gold, lime, orange and red.
