Eco Crafty Idea: Soda Pop Greenhouse

Who knew plastic bottles could look rather cute?  With a little twine and a fun tag, I'm rather liking this little greenhouse effect.  Found via Pinterest.  Photographer not credited.

Our Mini Vegetable Patch

This past friday after a zip in to see the new Vancouver Anthropologie, Janis of Pinecone Camp and Kate of Tiny Warbler and I hopped over to Main Street for a mini shopping/coffee trip when we ran into that amazing dollar store, Welk's. We were attracted by all the potting plants outside and then eventually inside. I happened upon this great fabric vegetable planter for seriously cheap ($12) which holds 33 gallons (120 litres) of compost - and so pretty soon after I was picking up seeds and a bean plant all the while being coached by Janis on the how-to. I really haven't planted any type of seed as an adult, so the whole thing is a bit foreign to me. But with Janis' coaxing, this weekend we planted some lettuce, carrots, radish and green beans. We're excited to see it grow, and I've been finding myself checking it each time I'm near the back. Wish us luck!

Patio Wall Ornaments

Loving these wall ornaments I happened upon today over at Flora Grubb. Bright, cheery and colourful, each shell has a wall screw built into the back of it so it can be secured to a wooden wall or drywall by hand. The result is a perfect little decorative cup that brightens any space (inside or out) while sitting flush with the wall. Comes in gold, lime, orange and red.

Cool Decorating Trick No. 6

A creative and economical way to build one of those coveted vertical gardens. Turn a pocket shoe organizer into a veggie patch! You may have read my post last year on the woolly pockets, so this idea of using a canvas pocket shoe organizer is a brilliant and much cheaper alternative! From intructables.com.

Inspiration: How Does Your Garden Grow?

That's so Potted Contest via Fresh Dirt - Sunset.com

I'm in such a gardening mood lately are you?  The weather is finally warming up and I think many have already started their gardens.  I'm a bit behind and am excited to visit our local nursery which I'm hoping to do later this week.  Until then, I grab inspiration.  What are you planting this year?

Weekend Gardening: Super Cool tools

With spring finally upon us, thoughts of gardening are starting to sprout and I just had to share a couple cool garden things with you.  I'm absolutely bananas over this potato planter bag (have you seen it yet)?   It's a reusable planter for growing potatoes (great for patios, balconies and small gardens like we have). With handles on the side for easy handling, the velcro flap on the side opens up so you don't have to dig up the potatoes when they're ready to harvest. Just open the flap and voila ($9.99).

And how fun would it be to have a time lapse plant cam? Watch your garden grow in fast-forward; the camera is weatherproof and automatically takes photos and videos at set time intervals. You can also use it for other things such as bird watching, events, etc. So fun.
