Summer Tunes: The Pack a.d.

Vancouver garage rock duo The Pack a.d.  are working on a new album right now called Unpersons (their 4th studio record on Mint Records); out September 13th.  Detroit producer Jim Diamond (who's worked with The White Stripes) flew in on his own insistence to produce it first-hand.  Nice fuzzy college fair! A Day at the Beach with Gallant & Jones

Hi all! Janis here, from Pinecone Camp. I had the opportunity to shoot, once again, with the talented women behind Gallant & Jones. The two of them design and build, a line of beautiful beach and garden chairs as well as camp stools and trays. I'm the proud owner of a few of their chairs and stools and I love them! So comfortable, and perfect in the back yard with a g&t. ;)

Our shoot took place at a Vancouver beach and the nearby park. The day was a bit cool, but the lighting was pretty. We had two fabulous "models", Tanis, owner of the fabulous Bao Bei, and Elisa from appleturnover-homemade stories. 

Nothing like a picnic shoot, where you can actually eat and drink the props! Wish all my shoots were like that. Sigh.

Container Garden 101

This Sunday, May 22 Vancouver shop, Old Faithful begin with their first in a series of Summer Workshops: Container Gardening 101. Join them in-store to learn the basics of growing herbs and greens well above the earth's surface with no backyard in sight. Space is limited for this event so you may need to register early. You may register in-store, by checking out through their website or by calling Old Faithful Shop at 778-327-9376. All materials will be provided and each participant will leave with a planted container.

Maker Faire Comes to Vancouver!

Calling all makers! Mark your calendars for the first mini Maker Faire Vancouver happening this summer, June 25th and 26th, 2011 at the Great Northern Way campus. The event which started a few years ago in San Francisco by the folks behind Make and Craft magazines hosts an event featuring demos by makers of robots, hacks and more! There's also a huge craft component. If you wish to participate, the deadline for applications is March 17th (follow this link for full details).
