A Is For Apple: Olivia & Jeremy's Country Charm Wedding

Part four of Coco Cake's wedding themed cake posts for Poppytalk!

Olivia and I had a great email back-and-forth discussing her and Jeremy's wedding cupcakes... we finally decided on APPLES! Not apple-flavoured cupcakes... but dark chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream, all dressed up to look like cute and modern apples freshly plucked from a cartoon tree! A perfect wedding cupcake look for a country charm wedding, complete with a barnyard reception on a lovely sunny day! Olivia was such a sweet bride, and what a gorgeous couple to boot. Nothing makes Coco Cake happier than providing a lovingly designed and delightful-tasting display of cakes for an excited and sweet couple!

Coco Cake
was lucky enough to be a part of the very brightly coloured, stylish and super energetic wedding of Nadine and Adrian! Sweet and gorgeous Nadine had a true colour vision for her wedding day: PEACOCKS! She dreamed of dynamite-bright shades of turquoise blue, aqua green and everything in between. Nadine wanted peacock feathers on her wedding cake too, and the cupcakes to match in a two-tone peacock-hued rosette buttercream swirl. Her bridesmaids wore shades of the bright peacock colours which I thought was so cute. Nadine herself was a spectacular bride of 1920s meets 1950s vintage style, and her groom was no sloucher either in a stylish suit and matching fedora!

Sweet Silhouettes: Abbey & Alex Wedding Cuteness!

Abbey & Alex's cutting cake: white fondant with black silhouette!

Alliteration in couples' names is pretty much the best. What about couples with the SAME name even? Wacky wonderful wild. My husband and I don't have alliterative names and we pretty much look like a United Colors of Benetton ad which is pretty much "Welcome to Vancouver"! Vancouver is an amazingly diverse city... but I digress majorly...

Abbey and Alex sent me an example of their wedding invitation, which had a silhouette of the couple facing each other, and colours of brown, with light peach lace ribbon and gold accents. For their wedding, I made oodles of mini cupcakes in gold and dark brown cupcake liners topped with dollops of white vanilla creamcheese frosting and white mini rosettes. The cutting cake mimicked the look of the invite -- I used an exacto knife to create the fondant silhouette on top of their cake! I cut out scalloped shapes and hand painted them with a sparkly gold edible sheen and used some extra lacey ribbon from the invites for the cake as well. Turned out so cute and Abbey loved it! Guest Post by Coco Cakes: Crafty Cutesville Wedding: Jen & Ben!

So cute mini paper bunting!

Hi everyone! My name is Lyndsay and I run a cute little cake business here in Vancouver, BC called Coco Cake. My joy lies in creating super delicious, artful, beautiful and sometimes comedy-inducing cakes and cupcakes for some truly excellent people. One of my favourite types of events to make cakes for is of course... weddings! Jan of the ever-inspiring Poppytalk invited me to participate in a fun month of love-and-wedding-swirly-dirly-arty-crafty madness! I was asked to gather up a few of my favourite cakey weddings of the past year, and I'm thrilled to share the super cute nuptials of some of my beloved Coco Cake couples!

Darling Jen and Scholarly Ben got married on a lovely sunny day here in Vancouver. Red and white stripey straws, typewriters, ice cream, strings of fabric bunting, hand painted wooden cake toppers made by the bride, and cupcakes galore to match... all elements of a supercute party! I made a simple and lovely buttercream frosted cake with raspberries, and vanilla cupcakes with pink rosettes, vegan and gluten free chocolate ganache cupcakes and lemon cupcakes with lemon creamcheese frosting. Jen also requested matching handmade cupcake flags and paper bunting for the cake table. I loved making all the extra accoutrements and I really think it added up to a an adorable cake display!
